When the Guirardel
adventure began
A story of friendship,
A shared passion.
In 2006, the Perrodo family met Marjolaine Maurice de Coninck, an agronomist and wine specialist. While Nathalie Perrodo took charge of the family estates in Margaux, Marjolaine was managing a property in Saint-Emilion. The two young women became friends, developing a strong bond that led them to share their responsibilities and vision.
So, when Nathalie asked Marjolaine to join her in the Margaux venture in 2010, she enthusiastically agreed!
Since then, the dynamic female duo has been charting an ambitious course for the Perrodo estates in Margaux: Château Labégorce, Château Marquis d’Alesme Becker (a Troisième Grand Cru Classé in 1855), and Château La Tour de Mons.
Gifted with the same creative drive, a constant desire for new challenges and a love for great dry white wines, they dreamed of creating a new wine that would break away from established conventions.
Anticipating climate change, these lovers of mountain landscapes set out in search of a region with an ideal sustainable climate; an authentic terroir, a land with its own unique personality.
At the Guirardel estate, a protected natural landscape meets the understated luxury of great wineries. In this setting, in the heart of the Pyrenean foothills, an outstanding white wine was born.
Convinced of the importance of mountainous terrain in developing this great wine, their search took them to the northern Béarn region.
They fell in love with with the Guirardel estate in the heart of the Pyrenean foothills, a sunny amphitheatre combining the harshness of the mountains with a mild oceanic climate.
“We were looking for a place to create our great white wine, and our quest brought us here. Stunned by the power of the area, we set out to create something really special!”
